Frequently asked questions
Questions Australians ask before considering treatment in Vietnam.
These are general answers about the Your Smile Journey process. Treatment-specific questions must be answered by the treating dentist.
Can I get a dental estimate before travelling to Vietnam?
You can provide available photos, X-rays and treatment information for clinic review. The clinic may provide an initial estimate and expected treatment timing, but the final treatment plan and cost are confirmed after the in-person assessment.
When do I know the final treatment cost?
After you arrive, the clinic completes the relevant consultation, X-rays and treatment assessment. It then confirms the final treatment plan and fixed treatment cost before treatment begins.
Do I have to proceed after receiving an estimate?
No. Receiving information or an initial estimate does not obligate you to travel or proceed with treatment.
How do I pay for the dental treatment?
If you approve the final treatment plan, payment for the dental work is made directly to the treating clinic.
Does Your Smile Journey charge me a separate support fee?
There is no separate fee to speak with Your Smile Journey for information and support. If you travel, complete the clinic assessment and choose to proceed with treatment through a clinic Your Smile Journey helps introduce or co-ordinate with, Your Smile Journey may receive a small referral fee from the clinic.
Do you help with travel arrangements?
We can help co-ordinate clinic dates, Vietnam visa guidance after flights are booked, accommodation, translator contact and local transport arrangements connected with the dental journey.
Are dental implants and crowns the same thing?
No. In implant treatment, the implant is the foundation placed in the jaw, an abutment may connect the implant to the restoration, and the crown is the visible replacement tooth. Ask the clinic to itemise the components.
How much are dental implants in Vietnam?
The implant starting price currently published by Your Smile Journey is $1,199. Final cost depends on the treatment plan and may not include every component needed for a finished replacement tooth.
How much are dental crowns in Vietnam?
The crown starting price currently published by Your Smile Journey is $298. The final crown type, material and cost are confirmed by the clinic.
Will I need more than one trip?
It depends on the treatment. Some procedures can be completed in one trip, while implant and complex treatment may require healing and a later visit. The treating clinic should explain the expected schedule.
How do I choose a dental clinic in Vietnam?
Consider the treating dentist, clinic standards, proposed treatment, materials, communication, itemised pricing, risks and aftercare. Price should be only one part of the decision.
Is dental treatment in Vietnam safe?
No dental treatment is risk-free. Discuss your individual suitability and risks with the treating dentist, and understand the clinic standards, treatment plan, travel implications and follow-up arrangements before proceeding.
What happens after I return to Australia?
Follow the treating dentist’s aftercare instructions and keep the clinic contact details available. If you develop concerning symptoms, contact the clinic and seek appropriate local dental or medical assessment when needed.
Can Your Smile Journey provide dental advice?
No. Your Smile Journey provides information, practical guidance and co-ordination. Diagnosis, treatment recommendations, suitability, risks and clinical decisions are the responsibility of the treating dentist or clinic.
